The high flame temperature required for oxy-fuel
welding is obtained by combining oxygen with one
of the following fuel gases:
Acetylene –
the premier fuel gas for welding and cutting due
to its high flame temperature, high heat
distribution and local heating. The only fuel
gas that creates a flame hot enough to cut and
weld steel.
Hydrogen
– as a fuel gas in oxy-hydrogen welding used for
aluminium and underwater welding.
